Have a fun festive season

It's that time of year again. Hope you all have a chance to catch up with loved ones, think about happy things and generally have a splendid holiday.

Actually, it would be nice if we could spend time with loved ones, think about happy things and have a lovely time all the time. I should get rid of the qualifiers.

Have fun. Be happy. Smile. Be silly.

That is all.

Seasonal Smut

Chestnuts roasting by an open fire

Every now and then an idea for an image or animation pops into my head and demands to be made; they're frequently appallingly bad puns, but I find them irresistable. Last week it was a terrible play on catapult. Today it's this. I was roasting chestnuts, singing a festive ditty to myself and this appeared.

I trust you'll understand that's it's for my own mental health that I have to get these things out of my head. I hate to think what would happen if I let them fester.

Big round numbers

I uploaded a new picture today and noticed my image database count was at 2000 pictures. I know I have more images than that online* but I still thought "Ooh, 2000, that's a lot". I didn't think that at 1999, and I doubt I'll think it at 2001, but it's difficult to avoid attributing significance to big round numbers. We do it with birthdays too; strange really. I offer no attempt to explain why this happens but to complement the observation here is image number 2000. Her name is Jas and she's stuffed with significance, as I'm sure you can see.

Thinking about it, it's not just big round numbers that we imbue with mysterious significance. I love a good coincidence too; chance occurences that seem so purposeful but are... well... just chance. It's lovely. Even lovelier than a big round number.

And that's saying something.

*I hide some away if I turn against them for any reason, but leave them online as some people still link to them and I have an irrational hatred of dead links.

Not The Cliff Richard Christmas Single

I told you I'd been making a lot of festive creatures; here's one of them. He stars in my latest animation, Not The Cliff Richard Christmas Single (1.1MB Flash), a collaboration with Beau Bo D'Or and DogHorse.

It's possibly a slightly cynical look at this season of goodwill, but it also has the cute mouse in pants so there's jolly too. Rather alarmingly this is three releases in a row involving y front pants. That can't be right can it?

On a related and equally wrong note I currently have the somewhat dubious pleasure of being in the top ten google hits when you search for y fronts.

I'm so proud. No, really.

Robop therapy

I've been sticking santa hats and baubles on lots of fluffy creatures recently; a combination of designing my christmas cards, working on a christmas animation with DogHorse and Beau Bo D'or and work projects which seem to wholly involve festive visuals. As a result I am temporarily festived-out so I drew a robot in fancy shoes bopping along to the music in its head instead. I quite like her although I fear the Eric and Ernie on her screen is an unwitting festive reference. There's a robot wallpaper as well.

I've been scribbling with pen and paper recently too, although I appear to be unable to just leave things be and end up scanning and playing with them. It's nice to drift between formats every now and then though, and I quite like how this one turned out, for all my lack of accomplishment with non-digital formats.

Although looking at it again, it needs more baubles.

Festive Pants Messenger

It's December, time for some seasonal silliness. Oh yes. First up is the Festive Pants Messenger. A meerkat in a santa suit, reindeer antlers and some seasonal shouts of tinsel, baubles and roasting nuts.
